The Second Prize Winner of the "Shade Your World"

The Second-Prize Winner of the Shade Your World

The Second-Prize Winner of the Shade Your World   In November 12, 2007, I was awarded "The Second Prize" in the single shader category of the "Shade Your World" competition sponsored by NVIDIA, GameDev.net, and Softimage.

This shader for the NVIDIA FX Composer 2.x is an implementation of the pyramidal displacement mapping, which has been presented in proceedings of the ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) 2006. In this shader, I also implemented a simple, new LOD technique. A technical article describes the algorithm and its implementation in detail.

The shader will be provided at the NVIDIA Shader Library as well as my homepage, and I will update this shader via my homepage. See a news page for the all winners of the Shade Your World, in the NVIDIA Developer homepage.
